Founded in 1948, the Montgomery Area Association of REALTORS® is an organization with more than 1,100 members servicing the Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore and Lowndes counties in central Alabama. The Association is more of more than 1,400 local boards and associations of REALTORS® nationwide that comprise the National Association of REALTORS®. Prior to 1948 there was in Montgomery, Alabama an organization know as The Montgomery Real Estate & Insurance Exchange which was composed of firms dealing with real estate only and firms dealing only in insurance and other firms dealing in both. Oftentimes, it was difficult to assemble a quorum at general meetings when issues concerned one group and not the other. In early 1947 members recognized the need to both groups and began to study what could be done. Member concluded the best course of action was to dissolve the Exchange and form the Montgomery Real Estate Board. The organization received its charter in 1968 and officially became a Board of REALTORS®. In 1982, the organization changed its name to the Montgomery Area Board of REALTORS® upon approval of the National Association of REALTORS® and became today's Montgomery Area Association of REALTORS® in 1994.
The Association's membership is comprised of REALTORS® serving the Central Alabama are and specializing in a variety of disciplines - appraisal, commercial, industrial, land, multi-family, property management and residential. Working alongside REALTORS® are our Affiliate members, who represent related industries and objectives of the Association. Out Affiliate members include mortgage lenders, home inspectors, title and closing services, pest inspection and control and insurance.
To be the voice of and source for real estate information and data in Central Alabama.
To unite those engaged in the recognized branches of real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests.
To promote and maintain high standards of conduct in the real estate profession as expressed in the Code of Ethics of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
To provide a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in real estate profession whereby their interests may be safe-guarded and advanced.
To further the interest of home and other real property ownership.
To unite those engaged in the real estate profession in this community with the Alabama Association of REALTORS®, Inc and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the state and nation, and obtaining the benefits and privileges of membership therein.
To designate, for the benefit of the public, those individuals authorized to use the terms REALTOR® and REALTORS® as licensed, prescribed, and controlled by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
